The Magpul is a thermoplastic-rubber loop instaled on the base of a 55 NATO (M16) or 7.62 NATO rifle magazine. Through this loop and recessed rough grippng surface, it provides unsurpassed speed and controllability during hight stress, tactical magazine changes. Developed by Richard Fitzpatrick, a former U. S. Reconnaissance Marine Sargeant, the Magpul’s patent pending design allows all the advantages of the field expediant versions with the following benefits. • Rigid finger loop allows for greater speed in magazine removal and subsequent 180-degree turn for insertion into the rifle. • Easy install and removal in under 30 seconds. • Stepped and scooped finger entry allows for tactile (touch) identification of magazine. • Finger loop acts as shock absorber to protect magazine from damage when dropped from rifle. • Base silences magazines when stored next to each other in pouch. • Recessed rough texturing provides positive gripping surface under slippery or wet conditions. • Loop allows expended (empty) magazines to be easily clipped to a carabineer for reload during a firefight. Since it’s release in mid 1999, teh Magpul 5.56 NATO has been adopted by Police and Special Warfare units world wide. It is currrently used by instructors at the top US firearms training facilities.
